2018 - The Future

I know it has been a very long while for a proper post but I suppose it is time. Only 4 blog posts this year, I must say I have been busy. 2017 was fully of joy, excitement, thrills, a few spills, and a ton of fun. Even if the blog doesn't show it. As planned Cassi and I were married in May on the lovely beaches of Cancun, MX. It was just lovely. It was a small ceremony right on the beach. I couldn't have asked for a better time.

We then promptly finished building our house and moved right in a week later. By June we were living happily ever after in our brand new home. Later in the year we found out some more great news! We are planning on having a child come June 2018. We are both very excited for our next chapter. We also saw the passing of our elderly cat Snuggles. She lived a long and happy life dying at the age of 23, which is very old for a cat. She will forever live in our hearts.

I partook in a few duathlons. Not as many as I had originally planned, partially due to the Wisconsin DU series only being 3 events (vs. 5 they originally stated), and one of those I decided not to do because if really bad weather. I also ran the crazy legs in the spring with Cassi. Honestly that is all I did for 2017 with regards to sport. It was a very very light year for me. As you can see I was busy doing other things. I did take up weight lifting, been trying to go at it at least 2 times per week.

But right, this is about the future, 2018. I must say it has some potential. The baby, obvious, will be a big role in our 2018 plans. We are planning a small trip in February before Cassi is banned from long travel. We have already begun preparing the room for the little one. It's quite a lot of fun. Goal 1 will be prepare for baby Levett.

As for training and what I will do athletically? I'm not sure. I want to get back into running. Crazylegs again? Some 5ks? Need some ideas. I enjoy running more than biking I have decided. Whenever I go for a run I feel great afterwards, after a ride I enjoy it, but its more like going for a bit of a stroll. The only time I feel like I did a proper workout on the bike is when I go for hours on end. Who has that kind of time?! I've also enjoyed some CrossFit, so I'd like to do a combo between CrossFit and running. Goal 2, get comfortable running 5 miles and get some strength. I also want to start commuting by bike again. This spring, goal 3, bike to work a lot. More importantly, get to the point where it doesn't feel like a workout. I had that at one point when commuting to UW for work, I'd like to get back to that.

Onward and upward.
